Amanita vaginata Photographs from Greece

Amanita vaginata, also called the grisette, is considered a delicious mushroom. If you collect Amanita vaginata for eating be very sure of your identification. It is easier to identify from poisonous members of the genus than many other Amanitae. Some other members of the Amanita genus are extremely poisonous and cause most fatal mushroom poisonings in the United States. Make sure you are absolutely certain of your identification before eating any wild mushroom.
